Staircases are often the first thing that you see when you walk into any home, so why not take a fresh look at your staircase design and see if you could improve the first impression that you make.
Staircases might be functional pieces of furniture but they can also be conversation starters. From a design point of view they aren’t as difficult to update as you might imagine. In fact with Neville Johnson you can give your home an incredible new look in less than 48 hours with no building work required. It’s a fast, clean and effortless way to improve the look of a room or your hallway – and a beautiful new staircase could potentially increase the value of your home.
Our stunning Opus staircase design with its striking, interwoven spindles is inspired by the trend for industrial architecture and is exclusive to Neville Johnson. It looks delicate but this brushed stainless steel structure is very solid and built to last – a modern interpretation of the classic iron staircase with a definite nod to Art Deco design. Whatever your colour scheme or house style, Opus can be hand-finished in a colour to suit your décor: choose from black, antique brass, gold, sage, copper and slate.
Unlike solid balustrades, the precision-engineered spindles of the Opus staircase design allow natural light to flow up, down and around the staircase promoting a sense of space and opening up hallways and landings. The steel spindles can be combined with any of our high quality timber finishes. Neville Johnson senior staircase designer, Mark Grenier says, “Our light wood finishes are proving really popular with clients who want a natural look, as opposed to a highly polished finish.”
Each Opus staircase design is precision engineered to perfectly fit every space – even if your stairs have awkward alcoves or turns to consider, our craftsmen are able to create a millimetre-perfect end result.
Our Black Opus Staircase design looks incredible with Crittall style doors, an architectural style that complements this particular staircase beautifully. The controlled irregularity of the criss-crossing spindles complements the straight-edged, linear style of Crittall windows, doors and room dividers.
Gold can look opulent without being over-the-top. It complements the warmth and tonal depth of natural wood finishes and is a neutral backdrop for vivid colour schemes. Gold is a beautiful choice and you can mirror the finish in personal touches such as picture frames, and soft furnishings.
Opus Antique Brass Finish Staircase
Old meets new in our antique brass finish. It gives the staircase a grown-up twist and this particular hue is sought-after by interior designers seeking an ‘industrial’ look with a warm ambience. This beautiful interpretation of Opus suits a range of hallways and entrances in traditional or contemporary homes.
